Wolf's Den
“Welcome to skylar-wolf.com.  This is the official website of Skylar Wolf—accomplished artist, musician, guitarist and harmonica player.  He is a singer songwriter of great talent.

Wolf grew up on the Navajo reservation and lived a life of tradition. He walks in two worlds and tells his stories from both sides.

His message is one of hope and redemption: a life free from addiction and suffering is a life of beauty and harmony.

Skylar’s passion resides in helping our children.  He states, “I can always deal with fame and fortune in the next life.  As for now, I spend my music/stage time and money on the children…”

During the winter holiday season, Skylar holds free concerts that benefit Children's Hospitals throughout the US. These concerts are toy and fundraising drives that benefit the children. Visit periodically for Howlin' Updates to see if he will be in your area during the winter holiday season. If he is, you are invited to join in on the fun - bring a toy and enjoy the show!

In his own words...

"I was born in Denver, Colorado, and raised in the Four Corners region of New Mexico on the Navajo Reservation. As a Navajo, my childhood years were spent in Indian boarding schools on the reservation until I graduated. I departed that following year, continuing my education in New York.

In 1988 my life took a sudden turn for the worse; beginning an era of poverty. Through ten trying years I shed all moral respect for where I came from and who I was, as a Native American. Many of these nights I spent shameful hours confined in a cell, closing my eyes, hiding the silent tears that washed away the disrespect I had caused to my family.

Upon returning home in 1998, I could find only marked graves of family members. This is when alcohol became a major part of my life. I spent a few more of these years, not as a struggling homeless outsider with a chance, but as an alcoholic living out on the city streets of Farmington. My attempts to hold a job or have a stable relationship were all met with one and the same result:
“No experience, need not apply.”

Many times I have tried to tell myself that my home is in my heart, but it was so lonely there that I was not even willing to let myself in. However, now I do know, and yes, home is what you give; home is everyone out there; home is your people. I believe my music has been developing slowly through these hardships and experiences I have encountered throughout my life.

My lessons of trial and error were taught while homeless under bridges in the depths of winter, and during those long “visits” accommodated by the state. My belief as a Native American, is that we ALL should consider the music and other artistic abilities that we produce are spiritual gifts through which we teach our children."
